The Catholic Child's Teaching Bible {book review}...and giveaway!

As a mother of four in addition to homeschooling my youngest, I have been on the lookout for a creative way to incorporate scripture into our day as well as a way to quickly reference topics when needed for instruction.  I easily found several Christian teaching bibles but none that were specifically Catholic in their nature.

I then began to start marking pages of my own but that task soon became a mass of confusion with no order.

How providential that I was asked to review The Catholic Child's Teaching Bible written by Jenny, a homeschooling mother of seven and administrator of Suscipio, a Spirit-inspired blog created to support Catholic women.

Don't be fooled by the size of this beautiful little treasure!  Using easy to find materials such as Post-its and colored pens, The Catholic Child's Teaching Bible includes clear, easy to follow instructions on how to recreate your bible into a wonderful teaching tool for your family. There is even a video available to watch that gives you a wonderful visual of this inspired project.

This resource contains many topics relevant to raising a family such as obedience, gratitude, gossiping, and complaining...just to name a few, each with its own color code for easy reference in your bible.  Within each topic there are thoughtfully chosen verses as well as discussion questions and prayers.

Needless to say, youngest daughter and I have been enjoying working on her bible and since I found many of the scripture verses applicable to my own life, I will be joining her with a bible of my own!

What a wonderful gift in helping us to teach the faith to our children.  My eight year old daughter has a sense of pride in owning her own "grown-up" bible as well as reading, underlining and tabbing by herself with such beautiful colors. It is an activity she looks forward to every morning.

The Catholic Child's Teaching Bible is an inspirational resource to teach our children about the Word of God~God's very own love letter to us.

This book is such a blessing that I would love to share one with you.  I happen to have an extra copy that I would be happy to send out to someone.  Could that be you?  Just leave a comment below (comments will be closed Friday at midnight) and winner will be posted Saturday, November 24.

  1. Wow! I am going to have to look into that! At our Carmelite meeting one of the women in my class teaches religion in our local home school/hybrid class. She has some wonderful things she is doing, but it's only for my oldest (middle school). I've been wanting so badly to incorporate more scripture (my nine year old seems to love looking up the passages). Thank you for this!

  2. We will be giving a "grown up" bible to our Goddaughter for her birthday and this would be a great addition to it!

  3. I would love this for my boys! My oldest (8) is making his first confession in December. I just came into the faith this Easter Vigil (I was baptized but never received any of the other sacraments) and we have all been immersing ourselves in the faith and feel so blessed to be Catholic. The boys were baptized in February, and my husband and I received the sacrament of marriage just last month! I know my children will absolutely love and appreciate this!

  4. I am preparing to begin homeschooling my son next school year when he starts 2nd grade. This looks like a great resource! Thank you for this giveaway...and happy thanksgiving!

  5. This sounds like what I have been looking for. I want my children to learn the Bible but it is overwhelming and there seem to be very little resources for young children. Thank you for this recommendation.

  6. I would love to win this! I ordered a generic Christian version but I really wish I had seen this one first!

  7. Wow...I never knew this kind of thing existed. I am the mom of 4 and the teacher of 6th grade CCD, so this would help not only in my own family but in my class as well.

    1. Anonymous~I can't enter you without a name of sorts.

  8. I would love to win this. I think Elise would really enjoy it.

  9. This would be wonderful for our family. I've wanted my children to read the bible more and this would help. Thank you.

  10. I found your blog thru Pinterest and am glad I did! This book looks fantastic; just what my kids and I need to help deepen our faith in this Year of Faith, thanks!

Always blessed by your kind words...
